Putting Down Roots – Building Purchase

Posted by Julia Cavicchi on May 18, 2020

Tatiana, Julia, and Julia's dog Hazel planted three baby hazelnuts courtesy of 350 Brattleboro and So. VT Extinction Rebellion at the (newly acquired!) Research Center.

We now have control of our Research Center at 355 Old Ferry Road, having completed an Asset Purchase Agreement with the previous owner, Sky Solar. We can expand into the whole building, accommodate more staff, increase our output of locally-sourced fertilizer, and build the regional nutrient recovery facility that has long been in our minds.

Our capital campaign is now in full swing! The purchase agreement gives us until December 31 to pay for the building, and we’re also raising money to make the improvements needed to fully utilize the new space. If you are able in this time, we would greatly appreciate your support! Donate here to help us raise the funds to pay for this purchase.

Thank you to Bob Spencer and the Windham Solid Waste Management Board of Directors for their support during this acquisition. Thank you to Bob Fisher for his help and our Board Chair, John Hatton, who has contributed many volunteer hours to make this purchase possible.

When the pandemic has shifted and we can congregate more freely, we will invite everyone to come see the space.
