Kick-off: Planning Peecycling for Franklin County, MA
WHERE: Sunderland Public Library, 20 School St, Sunderland, MA 01375
WHEN: Wednesday, April 8, 5:30 – 7pm
Thanks to a grant from the Long Island Sound Future’s Fund–and the care and enthusiasm of our many Western Mass partners–Rich Earth Institute will be facilitating plans to grow urine recycling networks in Franklin County, MA. Join us at this kick-off event to hear the project goals, share ideas, and learn how you can get involved.
Below is a sampling of the topics we’re excited to explore together… Most of all we’re excited to hear your ideas, questions, and dreams for the future of peecycling in Franklin County & beyond!
Big picture questions:
- What are your hopes & desires for the future of peecycling in Western Mass?
- What Franklin County needs might urine recycling and/or compost toilets help address? How might we shape this work to prioritize intersecting with other goals (in addition to Long Island Sound nutrient pollution prevention) such as housing, disaster preparedness, or food/nutrient sovereignty?
- How do you want to be involved?
- Who else should we prioritize engaging?
Specific things to plan out:
- hosts for urine depots
- toilet installation sites, with a special focus on the innovative wastewater/affordable housing intersection
- places to bring our portable toilets as an outreach tool
- transport partners
- treatment sites
- farm partners & other opportunities for ‘U-Grow’ demonstrations
- education events, including home garden education
